Engineering Manager

About the Job:
Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager for our dynamic team. This role involves first-level engineering management, where we aim to make open source more accessible, reliable, and secure. Our engineers are selected for their brilliance and motivation, working to elevate open source to the next level. The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers, guiding their career paths, and fostering collaboration. You will contribute to technical strategy while also participating in the coding process, mentoring your team, and ensuring high-quality results.

Work Conditions:

• Location: Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
• Full-time, Remote

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a team of engineers ranging from graduate to senior level.
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback.
• Identify and measure team health indicators.
• Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
• Implement disciplined engineering processes and develop excellent engineering practices.

Qualifications:

• Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science or STEM.
• Strong communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
• Proven experience in teaching, mentoring, and leading software developers.
• Ability to travel twice a year for company events of up to two weeks each.
• Familiarity with agile development environments.

Desired Skills:

• Experience in developer advocacy, ops, or system administration.
• Performance engineering and security experience.
