As an Engineering Manager, you will drive the future of collaborative open-source development tooling as part of the Launchpad team. This role is tailored for a motivated manager with a passion for open-source software, Linux, and web services. Launchpad is a robust platform for managing open source development projects and is essential for major projects like Ubuntu. Your primary responsibility will be to support and develop your engineers, ensuring they thrive in their roles, contribute valuable work, and enjoy their experience at Canonical. You will influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and collaborate on strategy and execution. Key Responsibilities: - Grow and lead a team of engineers in your region. - Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and feedback. - Apply sound engineering principles and contribute to team goals. - Create and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders. - Collaborate proactively with a distributed team and community. - Lead the ongoing development of Launchpad. - Advocate for modern, agile software development practices. - Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture. Work Conditions: - This is a remote role based in the EMEA region. - Candidates should be located within this region. - Expect up to 6 weeks of international travel per year for events. Requirements: - Experience leading a distributed team. - Ability to mentor and develop people. - Strong knowledge and passion for technology. - Experience delivering high-quality software. - Experience with complex distributed systems. - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - Solid experience in an agile development environment.
