We are seeking an Engineering Manager for our Ceph & Distributed Storage team. In this role, your focus will be on helping teams effectively store and manage the ever-increasing amounts of data produced daily. You will lead a team that aims to make Ceph installation and management straightforward—from large data centers to edge sites.
As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will be tasked with running an effective team while developing your colleagues. Strong technical leadership and a background in software engineering are essential, as you'll be responsible for fostering a collaborative culture, facilitating technical delivery, and ensuring software quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of a Ceph-focused software-defined storage solution.
- Build and manage a globally distributed team of engineers.
- Coach and mentor team members, demonstrating sound engineering principles.
- Set reasonable schedules and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Promote modern, agile software development practices while maintaining high engineering standards.
Who You Are:
- You possess a software engineering background, ideally with experience in Python and C++.
- You have operated scale-out storage clusters on Linux in production environments, preferably with Ceph.
- You are passionate about developing talent and have a proven record in mentoring engineers.
- You have experience in an agile development environment and a keen interest in software development.
Language Requirements:
Proficiency in English is expected.
