Position

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to expand the MAAS (Metal as a Service) team. The mission of MAAS is to offer the best solution for building and running private bare-metal infrastructure, utilizing a cloud-style on-demand API for physical server provisioning, network configuration, and storage.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a distributed team of engineers, focusing on high-quality software development and high-performance team leadership. We are looking for candidates with deep familiarity with Linux on physical servers, as well as knowledge of Linux storage and data center networking capabilities. Your responsibilities will include talent development through mentoring, setting and managing expectations with stakeholders, and engaging with broader teams and the open-source community.

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Remote)

Work Conditions:

  • Remote work-from-anywhere position available in EMEA or the Americas.
  • International travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for company events.

Requirements:

  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong technical background with leadership experience in software engineering.
  • Experience with modern Linux cloud computing technologies (networking, storage, containers, Kubernetes).
  • Programming skills in Python and Go; familiarity with TypeScript and modern web frameworks is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively engage in a multi-cultural organization and appreciate diversity.
