About the Job: Canonical is the publisher of Ubuntu, the most widely used OS for public cloud instances. Our team builds, tests, and publishes the base Ubuntu images used by millions, ensuring optimal performance and security in their cloud environments. We collaborate closely with major cloud partners such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to optimize Ubuntu for their infrastructures while maintaining a consistent operating experience across platforms.

As an Engineering Manager, you will blend technical and management skills to lead your team and represent them in direct partner engagements. Your responsibilities include ensuring the stability and functionality expected by our cloud users, as well as automating the delivery of Ubuntu image products for a range of workloads from web servers to GPU-aided AI.

In this role, you will focus primarily on supporting your team members, helping them grow as engineers and contributing to a positive work environment. A solid technical background in software development, particularly in Python and Golang, is required, allowing you to effectively challenge and develop your team.

Who You Are:

  • Passionate about mentoring and developing talent.
  • Knowledgeable in software development practices.
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
  • Holds a Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Python or Golang.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Practical experience with platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
