About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are hiring an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services activities, helping customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery.
This role is remote, managed from one of three geographic regions: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. The IoT mission at Canonical is to enable companies to create secure connected devices, emphasizing quality and security requirements. Our Field Engineers play a crucial role in addressing complex problems faced by customers, utilizing their expertise in embedded Linux and open-source technology to drive success.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services
- Solve customer problems by promoting Canonical’s technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and measure team health indicators
- Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Plan and manage progress on goals and projects while collaborating with other leaders
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic background with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Extensive embedded Linux experience, preferably using Yocto
- Proficiency in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
- Fluency in at least one of the following programming languages: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
- Ability to manage a small team and engage in customer interactions
- Professional written and spoken English
Desired Traits:
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
- Additional language proficiencies (both programming and human languages)
- Previous experience in a remote-first, diverse workplace
