Position

This is an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career by joining Canonical. As a Linux Desktop Support Engineer, you will deliver technical support to employees and customers and facilitate AV support for office conferences and events.

You will own and manage your cases from problem qualification to full resolution and may involve senior engineers as necessary. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include being a main technical resource for the office staff, prioritizing customer issues, and managing both in-person and remote support case management. Additionally, you will need to set aside time to learn about our new products and technologies and familiarize yourself with the office technical stacks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for employees in the London office.
  • Manage the technical infrastructure supporting the office and events.
  • Offer onboarding support for new employees.
  • Maintain security monitoring for employees.
  • Ensure all support requests are handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Update and contribute to a common knowledge base.
  • Communicate regularly with the team, locally and remotely.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience in a Linux environment, either through education or work experience.
  • Proficiency with desktop Linux tools and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic programming knowledge (e.g., bash, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C/C++, Go).
  • Experience with Mac and Windows troubleshooting.
  • Support experience in virtualized environments and containers.
  • Knowledge of AV event support and customer support experience.
