Role Overview:
As a Linux Desktop Support Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical support to employees and customers, while also facilitating AV support for office conferences and events. You will manage your support cases from problem qualification to resolution, transferring to colleagues or involving senior engineers as needed. This position requires excellent communication skills and a service-oriented approach. You will be the main technical resource for the office, prioritizing customer issues and balancing in-person and remote support. Continuous learning about new products, technologies, and the office technical stack is essential for professional growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for employees in a state-of-the-art London office.
  • Manage the technical infrastructure supporting the office and events.
  • Onboard new employees and support technical needs during office events.
  • Maintain security monitoring for employee devices.
  • Handle support requests via telephone, email, and web, adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Update and contribute to a common knowledge base.
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members both locally and remotely.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or equivalent four-year degree in a technical field (Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
  • Experience in a Linux environment through education or work experience.
  • Proficient in desktop Linux usage and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiar with Gmail, Google Calendar, Applications, and Single Sign-On.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a customer-facing role.

Additional Skills (Preferred):

  • Basic programming knowledge (bash, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C/C++, Go).
  • Experience with Mac and Windows troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with virtualized environments, containers, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience in AV event support and customer service.

Language Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
