About the Job:
The Partner Engineering team at Canonical works with leading silicon companies to optimize Ubuntu for new chip technology. This role is fast-paced and requires strong problem-solving skills. The right candidate must be resourceful and articulate, capable of delivering diverse solutions across server and data center technologies.

You will lead an engineering team focused on the entire Linux server stack, from kernel to AI workloads, to ensure Ubuntu performs optimally on the latest silicon. You will manage relationships with key technology partners and oversee the timely delivery of agreed project milestones.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a distributed team to design and implement the best Ubuntu integration for the latest hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Engaging with commercial partners to create a first-class Ubuntu experience.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members to ensure their professional growth.
  • Ensuring a commitment to quality and reliability standards.
  • Collaborating with other internal teams to align on product architecture and roadmaps.
  • Working from home with global travel up to twice a year for up to two weeks.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian.
  • High-quality software engineering experience with in-depth knowledge of C/C++ and Python.
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu (kernel and userspace), packaging, embedded Linux, QEMU/KVM, and/or OVS/OVN.
  • Experience in managing software engineers with a strong focus on planning and delivery.
  • Effective collaboration skills across multiple internal teams.

Language Requirements:
Proficiency in English is required.
