Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems widely used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our flagship platform, Ubuntu, is utilized by top public cloud and silicon providers, as well as industry leaders across various sectors. The company operates with a global distributed team of over 1,200 colleagues and few office-based roles, typically meeting two to four times a year in person to align on strategy and execution.

We are seeking a Jira Software Engineer to manage the Atlassian stack at Canonical, including administration, configuration, automation, and integration responsibilities. The ideal candidate will ensure high engineering quality, maintain rigorous documentation practices, and demonstrate effective stakeholder management abilities. This role will enable Canonical’s engineering and business teams to leverage Atlassian Jira, work on challenging assignments, and make data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire Atlassian Cloud ecosystem at Canonical.
  • Design, document, and implement processes and automation in Jira.
  • Implement integrations between Jira and the data warehouse.
  • Create analytical dashboards for stakeholders.
  • Develop scalable learning resources.
  • Collaborate with global engineering, operations, and support teams.
  • Take ownership of critical escalations and resolve them efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic performance in both high school and university.
  • Experience as an administrator with Atlassian Jira and its ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with various Jira usage patterns across different departments.
  • Proficiency in Python as a software developer.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Understanding of process architecture.
  • Experience with complex cross-project automation.

Work Conditions:

  • Remote position.
