We are hiring a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to join our Information Systems (IS) team. This role is perfect for an automation-focused senior technologist with a strong passion for Linux. You will help drive the success of those leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. Ideal candidates will have experience in IT operations automation, Infrastructure as Code, and a love for technology.

As a Senior SRE & Gitops Engineer, you will be responsible for driving operations automation within both private and public clouds. Your work will leverage open source infrastructure as code software and software development practices like CI/CD pipelines. You will also collaborate with other teams to improve Canonical products and provide feedback based on operational scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development of automation and GitOps as a tech lead within your team.
  • Collaborate closely with the IS architect to align solutions with architecture vision.
  • Design and architect services offered by IS as products.
  • Develop practices for infrastructure as code, increasing automation processes.
  • Automate software operations for consistency across clouds, considering distributed systems complexities.
  • Maintain operational responsibility for Canonical's core services, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot, plan capacity, and investigate performance issues.
  • Utilize observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
  • Share best practices through mentorship and collaborative efforts with team members.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of hosting architecture driven by infrastructure as code.
  • A product mindset with a focus on development.
  • Python software development experience with large projects.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
  • Proven ability to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure as code.
  • Practical knowledge of Linux networking and storage technologies.
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field.
  • Proficient in English, capable of clear communication over various mediums.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn in fast-changing environments.
  • Passionate about open-source technologies, particularly Ubuntu or Debian.
