Our flagship platform, Ubuntu, is extensively utilized in transformative initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We serve prominent public cloud and silicon providers as well as industry leaders across various sectors. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work with next-generation operations at scale, employing pure Python infrastructure-as-code, from bare metal to containers and applications. Our mission is to enhance enterprise infrastructure DevOps by managing hundreds of private cloud, Kubernetes, and application clusters for clients, while setting a high standard for automation through a universal operator pattern and model-driven operations. To excel in this role, you should be passionate about treating automation as a core software engineering problem, grounded in scientific approaches, metrics, and coding. You'll need to be versatile enough to understand the entire stack, from networking on bare metal to serverless applications and open-source solutions. Role Responsibilities: - Bring Python software engineering expertise into the operations domain. - Architect and manage OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined storage. - Enable DevSecOps for applications using our infrastructure. - Work effectively within a high-pressure environment, supporting mission-critical services for globally recognized customers. Qualifications: - Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science. - Strong experience with Linux and familiarity with Linux networking and storage. - Expertise in Python software development. - Operational experience with excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability. - Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks. Nice-to-Have Skills: - Experience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment or operations. - Familiarity with public or private cloud management. Compensation and Benefits: Canonical considers geographical location, experience, and performance in determining worldwide compensation, revisited annually (with more frequent reviews for graduates and associates). In addition to base pay, we offer performance-driven annual bonuses or commissions. Our benefits include: - Remote work environment with team meetings held twice a year at various locations. - Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year. - Annual compensation reviews and recognition rewards. - Annual holiday leave and maternity/paternity leave. - Employee Assistance Programme. - Opportunities to travel for company events with travel upgrades. About Canonical: Canonical is pioneering the transition to open source, publishing Ubuntu—one of the foremost open-source projects that serve as a foundation for AI, IoT, and cloud innovations. We recruit globally, setting stringent standards for excellence within our workforce. Most of our employees have worked remotely since our establishment in 2004, providing a unique opportunity to engage in a forward-thinking environment that challenges conventional methods. Diversity Commitment: Canonical is an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to fostering a workplace free from discrimination. We value diversity, experience, perspectives, and backgrounds, believing they contribute to a better work environment and superior products. All applications will be given fair consideration.
