About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We support a broad range of customers including industry leaders and public cloud providers.

We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to contribute to next-generation operations at scale, utilizing pure Python for infrastructure-as-code, from bare metal to containers and applications. Our aim is to perfect enterprise infrastructure DevOps through high-quality automation.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Bring Python software-engineering skills to the operations domain while practicing DevSecOps.
  • Architect and manage OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined storage.
  • Ensure operational excellence for applications running on our infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with Linux, including Linux networking and storage.
  • Proficiency in Python software development.
  • Operational experience in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment or operations.
  • Familiarity with public or private cloud management.

Work Conditions:

  • The role requires the ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events, lasting up to two weeks.
  • Canonical provides a distributed work environment with in-person team sprints twice a year.
