About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, particularly known for its platform, Ubuntu. This role as a Software Engineer - L3 Support offers an exciting opportunity to work within Linux-based infrastructure and applications. The position entails troubleshooting and resolving complex customer issues related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open-source software.

You will maintain a close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support, and Product Engineering teams, participate in upstream communities, develop bug fixes, and review code produced by other engineers. The role also requires prioritizing work effectively and maintaining clear, concise communication.

Successful candidates should have a passion for technology, excellent problem-solving skills, and a drive to learn new technologies.

What We Are Looking For:

  • An exceptional academic track record.
  • Background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux and open-source software.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
  • Willingness to travel for internal events (up to 4 times a year).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Curiosity about technology and interest in collaborative environments.
  • Valued soft skills: being articulate, accountable, and self-motivated.
  • Interest in areas such as Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, and distributed systems.

Work Conditions:
Full-time, Remote, occasional international travel (up to 10% of work time for team meetings, events, and conferences).
