About the Job:
At Canonical, our mission is to build next-generation private cloud infrastructure by integrating KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies into a data center scale cloud that operates seamlessly. We are looking for an Engineering Manager with expertise in microservice architectures and experience in leading high-performance teams. A solid understanding of Linux kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking is essential.
In this role, you will lead a remote team of engineers, fostering their growth through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development. You will set and manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and stakeholders. Engaging in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews while advocating modern software development practices is crucial. The successful candidate will have experience in solving complex distributed systems problems and possess deep knowledge of Linux.

- Lead a team of remote engineers.

What We Are Looking For:
- Strong understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes (K8s).
- Proven track record in developing and growing engineering talent.
- Focus on timely delivery of high-quality software.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in a technical context.
- Programming experience in C and/or Go.

Work Conditions:
Full-time, Remote position available in EMEA and the Americas. Occasional global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.
