We are seeking engineering managers with experience in high-quality microservice architectures and high-performance team leadership, particularly those with a deep familiarity with Linux kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking. You will need to demonstrate the ability to solve challenging distributed systems problems and possess in-depth knowledge of Linux. Key Responsibilities: - Lead a team of remote engineers. - Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development. - Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders. - Advocate for modern software development practices. - Participate in code and architectural reviews. - Engage with teams at Canonical, the open-source community, and partners. - Work from home with global travel of 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events. What We Are Looking For: - Solid understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes. - A passion for developing and growing people with a proven track record. - Focus on success and timely delivery of high-quality software. - A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field. - Strong written and verbal technical communication skills. - Programming experience in C and/or Go. Work Conditions: - This position is remote and available in EMEA and the Americas. - Occasional travel, estimated at 4 to 6 weeks per year. Benefits: - Competitive compensation reflecting geographical location, experience, and performance. - Performance-driven annual bonus. - Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year. - Annual compensation review and recognition rewards. - Annual holiday and maternity/paternity leave. - Employee Assistance Programme and opportunity to travel to meet colleagues. About Canonical: Canonical is a pioneering technology firm leading the transition to open source and the publisher of Ubuntu, one of the world's most important open-source projects.
