About the Job:
Drive the future of collaborative open-source development tooling as part of the Launchpad team at Canonical. This position is ideal for a motivated engineering manager with a passion for open-source software, Linux, and web services, joining a distributed team.
Launchpad is a platform for managing open-source development projects, encompassing code hosting and review, bug tracking, package building, translations, and other features used by free and open-source software developers. It provides essential infrastructure for major projects such as Ubuntu.
As an engineering manager at Canonical, your primary responsibility will be to support your team members by ensuring their growth as engineers, helping them do valuable work, and maintaining a positive experience at Canonical. You will provide technical leadership, challenging and growing your team while influencing the culture, facilitating technical delivery, and collaborating on strategy and execution.

Work Conditions:
Full-time, remote role with international travel up to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events. Candidates are expected to be located within the EMEA region.

  • Lead the ongoing development of Launchpad, the infrastructure on which great software like Ubuntu is built.
  • Advocate for and advance modern, agile software development practices.
  • Foster a collaborative engineering culture in line with company values.
  • Engage actively with the broader leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a distributed team to deliver features and manage production services at scale.
  • Passion for mentoring, developing, and growing people with a solid track record.
  • Strong knowledge and enthusiasm for technology.
  • Background in delivering high-quality software and designing complex distributed systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid experience working in an agile development environment.
