Position

In this role, you will lead the initiative to make Ubuntu suitable for mission-critical environments such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial robotics. Ubuntu stands as the most widely used Linux in enterprise settings, favored by developers and home users alike for its user-friendly interface and affordability. Canonical is searching for a Development Lifecycle Engineer with a strong passion for engineering excellence and open source. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing an agile lifecycle release train across diverse products. This position aims to connect Canonical's open-source engineering processes with the compliance and certification requirements of regulated technology platforms.

You will work collaboratively with all engineering stakeholders to showcase Canonical's ways of working while defining and executing continuous improvement processes that meet engineering quality standards. This role includes establishing strategic relationships with external groups and reporting directly to the Vice President of Engineering Excellence.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment.
  • A passion for developing and mentoring people and teams, with a proven track record.
  • Experience leading successful compliance and certification efforts, alongside knowledge of industry standards such as ISO IEC 9001, 25010, and 15504/SPICE.
  • Familiarity with established open source projects known for robust engineering processes.

Additional Skills That You Might Also Bring:

  • Background as a software developer.
  • Experience in establishing product engineering development metrics and KPIs.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
