Web Frontend Engineer - JS, CSS, React, Flutter

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, supports groundbreaking initiatives in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are hiring a Web/UI Engineer to develop a data-rich and reliable user experience. Frontends will be constructed using JS, CSS, React, and Flutter, serving as the company's face to users.

In this role, you will:

• Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Web technologies or Flutter.
• Debug and fix issues encountered by users.
• Collaborate on technical specifications and contribute to documentation.
• Seek improvements to engineering and operations practices.
• Engage with the broader open-source community and contribute to various projects.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Globally remote role) Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote

What We Are Looking For

• An exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, with a compelling narrative about your alternative path.
• Experience designing and writing high-quality Web technologies; familiarity with Typescript, React, or Flutter.
• Professional written and spoken English.
• Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
• Ability to travel twice a year for company events for up to two weeks each.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with container tech such as LXD, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of REST API design and governance.
• Performance engineering and security experience.
