About The Team
The Careem Data Science team is dedicated to driving competitive value from data at scale by developing AI models that optimize user experiences, decision making, and operational efficiencies. As a tech leader in this team, you will work alongside the top data science talent in the region, innovating on user experience with Generative AI.
What You'll Do
- Participate in an AI transformation for the Careem app with a focus on personalization.
- Develop a long-term vision for customer acquisition and engagement strategies leveraging data.
- Conduct exploratory analysis to understand the ecosystem and user behavior, identifying new strategies to enhance metrics and build models for product development.
- Shape and influence data/ML models to optimize product experiences and generate insights for new opportunities and products.
- Provide product leadership by sharing data-driven recommendations and insights related to business metrics and experimentation results.
- Implement scalable machine learning algorithms suitable for production use with big data.
- Perform exploratory data analysis projects to discover and optimize untapped areas of growth.
- Address complex analytic questions from large data sets to refine Careem’s products and services.
- Define and track key metrics for projects, run experiments, and analyze data outcomes while communicating results to other teams.
- Challenge the status quo by investigating new data processing technologies and adhering to industry best practices.
- Build and deploy retrieval augmented generation systems and applications of large language models.
What You'll Need
- 4-6 years of experience in data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, and Big Data methodologies.
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Solid experience with Deep Learning Techniques (e.g., attention, retrieval models).
- 1-2 years of industrial experience in personalization, recommendation, or search, preferably in a product-driven company.
- Strong problem-solving and coding skills.
- Knowledge of AB testing, classic ML, and Deep Learning.
- Understanding of recommendations, ranking, and retrieval systems.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and Hive.
- Experience with database technologies (e.g., Hadoop, BigQuery, Amazon EMR, Hive, Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata, MS SQL Server, MySQL).
- Familiarity with business intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, MicroStrategy, ChartIO, Qlik) and geospatial data processing is a plus.
