About the Job:
The Data Privacy Expert will be responsible for ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and best practices. The ideal candidate should possess expert knowledge in the following areas:

  • Data Protection Concepts: Understanding personal data, sensitive personal data, pseudonymous and anonymous data, processing, controller, processor, and data subject.
  • Data Processing Principles: Fairness and lawfulness, purpose limitation, proportionality, accuracy, storage limitation (retention), integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Lawful Processing Criteria: Consent, contractual necessity, legal obligation, vital interests, public interests, legitimate interests, and special categories of processing.
  • Data Subjects’ Rights: Access, rectification, erasure (right to be forgotten), restriction and objection, consent (and withdrawal), automated decision-making (including profiling), data portability, and restrictions.
  • Security of Personal Data: Technical and organizational measures, breach notification, vendor management, and data sharing protocols.
  • Accountability Requirements: Responsibilities of controllers and processors, data protection by design and default, documentation and cooperation with regulators, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), mandatory data protection officers, and auditing of privacy programs.
  • International Data Transfers: Rationale for prohibition, adequate jurisdictions, Safe Harbor and Privacy Shield, Transatlantic Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses, Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs), codes of conduct and certifications, derogations, and transfer impact assessments (TIAs).
  • Supervision and Enforcement: Roles of supervisory authorities, the European Data Protection Board, and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS).
  • Consequences for GDPR Violations: Processes and procedures surrounding infringements and fines and data subject compensation.
