The Manager - Storage Technology is responsible for leading a team of storage engineers and systems architects dedicated to the design, build, expansion, and improvement of Cloud and High-performance computing storage infrastructure. This role emphasizes high efficiency, performance, availability, and scalability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in storage technology engineering and excellent leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse team, providing technical expertise, mentorship, and strategic direction.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of storage engineers and systems architects, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Set goals, mentor team members, and provide performance feedback, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives and projects.
- Leverage strong technical background and experience to lead complex projects and make critical technical decisions.
- Ensure high quality of technical solutions and documentation produced by the teams.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, reporting on progress and integrating feedback.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of File, Block, and Object storage systems for Cloud and HPC infrastructure.
- Plan, execute, and manage storage-related projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Participate in the Architecture Review Board and provide insights to align with organizational technology goals.
- Develop and enforce policies and best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Oversee incident response and resolution for storage-related issues.
- Support disaster recovery planning and documentation for infrastructure services.
- Provide management with insights and recommendations for storage system improvements.
- Stay updated with the latest storage technologies and trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technology field.
- Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
- 3+ years in a managerial role overseeing a team of 6+ members.
- Strong technical expertise in storage solutions with 7+ years of experience.
- Good understanding of modern storage technology landscape and leading vendors.
- Familiarity with cloud storage services and architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle).
- Expertise in designing, implementing, and managing large scale storage solutions.
- Experience with building monitoring, observability, and incident response capabilities.
- Solid understanding of systems and network infrastructure engineering principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a diverse workload in a dynamic environment.
- Strong understanding of organizational processes and experience implementing new procedures.
- Relevant ITIL, Cloud computing, and storage technology certification preferred.
