At dubizzle, you will be part of high-performing cross-functional "Squads" dedicated to providing win-win exchanges for our beloved users. As a Backend Engineer, you will advance our development stack and ensure scalability as we grow to millions of monthly active users across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain robust APIs, ensuring all services are healthy, monitored, automated, and designed to scale.
- Collaborate closely with other teams during the design phase and resolve production issues effectively.
- Support a variety of products with a focus on automation, availability, performance, and reliability.
- Assist mobile engineers and business intelligence before, during, and after each sprint with the aim of building an industry-leading platform focused on innovation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in the analysis, design, coding, and implementation of web applications using Python and Django.
- 1+ years of experience with API-based architectures (e.g., SOA).
- Experience working on high-traffic and large-scale web products.
- Familiarity with web infrastructure, distributed systems, performance analysis, and search infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of Python, including meta-classes, decorators, descriptors, list comprehensions, and multiple inheritance/mixins.
- Experience with database management technologies, preferably MySQL and PostgreSQL, as well as understanding NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, and XP.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
