About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Applications Manager to join our dynamic IT team, responsible for managing, overseeing, and supporting our internal business applications. This role holds considerable responsibility in leading the design, development, testing, planning, budgeting, and implementation of complex systems that impact many employees and internal stakeholders. The IT Applications Manager will work closely with project sponsors, business and technical partners, subject matter experts, end users, and technical resources to ensure that the needs of business users are met and continuous improvement is achieved.

This position is ideal for individuals with strong IT skills who can focus on highly technical issues while possessing a deep understanding of current hardware and software processes. Candidates should demonstrate keen business intuition to anticipate organizational needs and manage their time effectively under pressure. A natural curiosity and analytical mindset will enable success in this environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an application portfolio and associated projects for various internal applications, both on-premise and in the cloud.
  • Identify opportunities for application optimization, redesign, or process improvement focused on collaboration systems and internal tools.
  • Research, procure, and manage software applications that contribute to the company’s success.
  • Lead and manage the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of tools and systems, ensuring their effective use across departments.
  • Establish protocols for software applications and ensure their user-friendliness for internal business users.
  • Oversee upgrades for servers, hardware, and software, and report on ongoing operational issues to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage budgets for specific projects and day-to-day operations.
  • Lead vendor and internal teams during project implementation and support phases, representing work group perspectives and guiding discussions on innovation and best practices.
  • Ensure seamless integration of applications from different vendors and facilitate testing and coordination among various teams.
  • Document and maintain process flows, descriptions, and data flow diagrams while collaborating with businesses, vendors, developers, and IT teams.
  • Lead the implementation of new internal business systems and manage the resolution of functional issues, coordinating with stakeholders as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal resources and third-party vendors for the efficient execution of projects and resolution of support tickets, utilizing superior collaboration skills to define solutions, resolve conflicts, and foster partnerships.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, cultivate relationships with stakeholders, and conduct follow-up meetings to continuously improve internal processes.
  • Maintain detailed project budgets and drive consistency in implementing systems, aligning with internal IT service and project methodologies.

Computer/Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Java platforms, web content management systems, Dot Net framework, and open-source platforms for web and mobile applications.
  • Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management software (CLM) and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Familiarity with systems architecture and platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, CRM, APIs, integrations, and Azure data factory.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, modern architecture concepts, workflow management software, and DevOps practices using cloud-based solutions (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office solutions (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, and SharePoint applications.
  • Understanding of information security and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) protocols within an organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, web design, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an Applications Manager or similar role, preferably with SaaS applications.
  • A minimum of 2 years of vendor management experience and deep hands-on experience with application implementations, enhancements, and integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of system design, databases, and project management methodologies.
  • Proven ability to structure frameworks and approaches to complex problem-solving in large, fast-paced organizations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development in IT and business skills.
