About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Applications Manager to join our dynamic IT team to manage, oversee, and support our internal business applications. The position holds the responsibility to lead the design, development, testing, planning, budgeting, and implementation of complex systems and services that typically affect many employees and internal stakeholders. This role works closely with project sponsors, business and technical partners, subject matter experts, end users, technical resources (internal and third-party vendors), senior management, and executives in the delivery and support of applications that ensure that the needs of business users are fully addressed, and continuous improvement is being achieved.

This role suits those with a high degree of IT skills who can focus on extremely technical issues and have a sound knowledge of current hardware and software processes, as well as keeping a keen eye on products that are yet to come to market. An understanding of the way a business operates is essential, along with savvy business intuition to help anticipate the business’ needs while managing time effectively under pressure. People who are naturally curious and analytical will thrive in this environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an application portfolio and associated projects for various internal applications on premise and on cloud.
  • Identify opportunities for application optimization, redesign, or process improvement focused on collaboration systems and internal tools.
  • Research, procure, and manage software applications that contribute to the company's success.
  • Lead and manage the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of tools and systems, ensuring they are used across departments.
  • Establish protocols for software applications and ensure their ease of use for internal business users.
  • Manage and oversee upgrades for servers, hardware, and software.
  • Report on the progress of operational issues to senior management, end users, and stakeholders.
  • Manage financial budgets for both specific projects and daily operations of specific departments.
  • Lead vendor teams and internal teams during project implementation and support phases.
  • Represent work group perspectives, share information, and lead discussions on the implementation of innovation and best practices.
  • Inspire and motivate teams, provide direction, and manage performance.
  • Ensure seamless integration of different applications from various vendors through testing and coordination.
  • Create and maintain process flows, process flow descriptions, and data flow diagrams by consulting with business stakeholders, vendors, developers, and various IT infrastructure teams.
  • Lead new internal business system implementations, gather requirements, and documentation.
  • Resolve all functional-related issues, manage defects, and coordinate issue resolution with all stakeholders.
  • Manage a team of internal resources and third-party vendors for the flawless execution of projects, defects, and support tickets.
  • Proactively develop and implement strategies to significantly mitigate risks.
  • Establish contacts and cultivate relationships with business stakeholders and external parties involved in assigned projects.
  • Conduct follow-up meetings with stakeholders and team members to continuously improve internal engagement and processes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project budgets.
  • Drive consistency in the implementation of systems and best practices, aligning with internal IT service and project policies and methodologies.

Computer / Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Java platforms, website and web content management systems, .NET framework, and software development experience.
  • Experience with open-source platforms for web and mobile applications.
  • Familiarity with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) software and ticketing systems like ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of systems architecture, Microsoft Azure, AWS, CRM, APIs, integrations, and Azure data factory.
  • Understanding of data modeling and modern architecture concepts.
  • Experience with workflow and document management software.
  • Knowledge of DevOps code management using cloud-based solutions, e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of information security and governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) protocols and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, web design, or a related field.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in an Applications Manager or similar role, preferably supporting SaaS applications.
  • 2+ years of vendor management experience.
  • Deep hands-on experience with application implementations, enhancements, and integrations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in system design, databases, and project management methodologies.
  • Proven experience structuring frameworks/approaches to complex problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development and enrichment of IT and business skills.
