The IBM Systems Lab Services organization is seeking an IT Management Consultant with expertise in IBM Z Systems. This role involves leading and delivering both pre-sales and post-sales client engagements to foster the adoption of IBM Z Systems.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As an IBM Z Management Consultant, you will:
- Develop and deliver IBM solution designs, architecture, and the implementation of IBM Z solutions. This may involve conducting consulting assessments and workshops.
- Travel to customer sites to execute implementation projects according to the established Scope of Work, ensuring client satisfaction through timely execution.
- Foster long-lasting relationships with clients and internal IBM teams, based on insights into their current and future needs.
- Plan, install, implement, and integrate new and complex solutions related to IBM Z Systems.
- Conduct problem determination and skills transfer to customers, business partners, and IBM team members.
- Document services engagements and demonstrate leadership with both external and internal clients to identify service engagement opportunities.
- Proactively drive growth in new business areas and create new services that meet market demands.
- Attain high client satisfaction supported by positive client feedback, exemplifying personal responsibility and cooperation in all relationships.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with z/OS and zVM.
- Proficient in installing, upgrading, configuring, and testing the IBM Z operating system and related software.
- Knowledge of z/OS high availability and Copy Services technology, including Metro Mirror and Global Mirror.
- Deep hands-on skills in one or more of the following areas: Networking, Storage, Security, CICS, Linux, WebSphere MQ Series, z/VM system programming, and Linux administration on z Systems.
- At least 10 years of experience in the IT industry, with a minimum of 5 years in technical solution sales and 3 years in solution integration.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Knowledge or experience with GDPS®, PPRC, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Familiarity with SMP/E, Assembler, JCL, REXX, and CLIST.
- Understanding of IBM System Automation and Red Hat Ansible.
- Basic knowledge of RACF.
