Manager, Software Application Administration and Integration

About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Software Application Administration and Integration to join our dynamic team. This role requires a deep understanding of Atlassian Jira and GitLab systems to support our organization's software development and project management needs.

Key Accountabilities & Activities

• Configure and maintain: Administer Atlassian Jira and GitLab instances, including workflows, custom fields, permissions, and notifications.
• Enhance functionality: Develop and maintain custom scripts, plugins, and integrations to improve Jira and GitLab capabilities.
• Provide support: Offer technical expertise to teams using Jira and GitLab for issue tracking, project management, and version control.
• Collaborate and gather requirements: Work with stakeholders to define system enhancements and prioritize tasks.
• System maintenance: Perform regular system maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal performance.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical and user documentation for Jira and GitLab processes.
• Troubleshoot: Resolve issues related to Jira workflows, permissions, and integrations.
• Conduct training: Facilitate training sessions to educate users on best practices and new features.
• Stay current: Keep up with industry trends in Atlassian and GitLab administration.
• Participate in projects: Engage in cross-functional initiatives as a subject matter expert for Jira and GitLab.

Background, Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience as a Jira and GitLab Administrator in a large-scale organization.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of Jira and GitLab architecture, administration, and configuration.
• Scripting skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, or Bash for automation.
• Customization: Ability to customize Jira workflows, screens, fields, and dashboards.
• Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools, including Scrum and Kanban.
• Problem-solving: Excellent troubleshooting abilities within Jira and GitLab environments.
• Version control: Solid understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
• Integration experience: Experience integrating Jira and GitLab with other applications and tools, especially CI/CD pipelines.
• Communication: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 8 years of proven experience in a similar role within a software development or IT operations environment.
• Atlassian certifications such as Jira Administrator or Agile Development with Jira Software are preferred.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Docker/containerization is preferred.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices is preferred.
