The Information Systems Engineer is a seasoned subject matter expert, responsible for delivering enterprise-level IT support and maintenance of various IT services within the organization. This role involves leveraging engineering tools and processes for effective installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and support of company infrastructure and systems. Working independently, the engineer will use their troubleshooting skills to research and resolve issues that are considered medium to complex in nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installs, tests, and maintains new hardware and software to provide services or resolve user/system problems.
  • Performs troubleshooting and system analysis to resolve incidents and ensure system availability.
  • Executes system administration tasks including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and support.
  • Tests and validates new systems to ensure they meet requested functionality and quality standards.
  • Implements backup and recovery procedures to ensure necessary availability.
  • Conducts proactive system monitoring by collecting metrics and logs.
  • Performs hardware/software upgrades and patching for vulnerability management.
  • Manages changes within the Change Management Process.
  • Creates and maintains system documentation regarding fixes, modifications, and other changes.
  • Works collaboratively with vendors or other delivery organizations as needed for appropriate support.
  • Identifies, documents, and suggests service improvements for system issues.
  • Creates and manages tickets for incident management, change management, and request fulfillment.
  • Documents work results, actions, steps to resolve issues, efforts, and resolution time in the ticketing system.
  • Collaborates with senior team members for guidance on procedures and technical options to ensure high system availability.
  • Performs other tasks as defined by the leadership team.

Required Knowledge and Attributes

  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure technology, including Office 365, Microsoft Windows Servers, VMware, and Microsoft Exchange Server.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and strong technical understanding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining technical content to senior management.
  • Familiarity with ITIL support processes (Incident, Change, and Request Management).
  • Ability to understand the business processes related to managed systems.
  • Competence in researching and evaluating new technologies to enhance service delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate information and decide on the best solutions to problems.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with teams across various business functions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in utilizing key systems and tools in information technology.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Microsoft Certifications are preferred.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in IT Systems.
