About the Job
The Site Reliability DevOps Engineer is a crucial member of the Rackspace support infrastructure, tasked with delivering a high level of technical support to our customers through various channels, including phone and ticketing systems. This role encompasses ownership of complex customer issues, often requiring several days or weeks for resolution, while maintaining clear communication with customers throughout the process. The position provides a framework for system development, maintenance, and enhancements, implementing standards and guidelines of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) support.
As a member of an SRE team responsible for operating our OpenStack private cloud, you will develop tools and integrations for a range of cloud infrastructure services. Your OpenStack expertise will be vital in driving operational and release improvements through code. You will utilize popular open-source observability tools such as ELK and Grafana to create proactive alerts, measure, and maintain Service Level Objectives. In collaboration with the Tier 1 team, you will work on escalations, leveraging these opportunities for automation improvements.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based in Saudi Arabia.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver software to enhance the functionality, reliability, availability, and manageability of applications and cloud platforms, utilizing a DevOps model for On-Prem (OpenStack).
- Automate development, testing, and deployment processes through CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitLab, Helm, ArgoCD).
- Collaborate with Tier 1 support on system and customer escalations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, applications, and networks.
- Work in partnership with software engineering teams to optimize application performance and reliability.
- Continuously evaluate and improve systems and processes to enhance reliability, performance, and efficiency.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in SRE and DevOps.
Job Requirements
- Solid experience with OpenStack cloud infrastructure and operational problem-solving.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, packaging, deployment, upgrade, and support.
- Hands-on experience with major OpenStack components such as Keystone, Nova, Neutron, Glance.
- Proficient in software development using Python, with the ability to write patches for OpenStack and contribute to the community.
- Experience supporting software-defined storage solutions, such as Ceph or other cloud-based storage options.
- Proficient with hypervisor technologies including KVM, and experienced in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or CentOS.
- Experience in building and maintaining code distribution through automated pipelines.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet.
- Familiarity with software-defined networking technologies such as OVS, OVN, NFV, etc.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Helm, and ArgoCD.
