About The Opportunity
The Growth Data Science Director will play a pivotal role in leading and accelerating growth strategies across multiple dimensions, including marketing optimization and efficiency, growth product initiatives (e.g., churn reduction), ecosystem plays, and ads revenue optimization for talabat and Quick commerce. This leadership position will require close collaboration with product teams and senior marketing and partner growth leadership, ultimately driving data-driven decision-making and achieving transformative business growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Science:

    • Define and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with company goals, leveraging data to drive business decisions.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative data-driven products and analytics insights, achieving measurable impact on business outcomes.
  • Strategic Leadership and Business Acumen:

    • Demonstrate leadership skills and an understanding of how data science can drive business success, articulating a vision that aligns team efforts with organizational goals.
    • Identify emerging trends and technologies to drive business value and incorporate them into team initiatives.
  • Collaboration and Influence:

    • Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including senior executives and product managers, to build partnerships and influence decision-making.
    • Manage relationships with external partners and represent the organization at industry events.
  • Resource Management:

    • Oversee a larger team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers, managing budgets, resources, and project priorities.
    • Coach and mentor team managers to develop their skills and leadership capabilities.
  • Strategic Hiring and Talent Development:

    • Recruit and retain top talent, developing job descriptions and onboarding programs to ensure swift acclimatization for new hires.
    • Set growth expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Organizational Change Management:

    • Manage change effectively, communicating the rationale for new technologies and processes, ensuring stakeholder involvement, and developing plans to minimize disruption.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience in data science, including leadership roles.
  • A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, data science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing data science teams and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Deep knowledge of data science principles, including statistics, causality, and causal inference.
  • Track record of leading teams to deliver innovative data-driven products and impactful insights.
  • Business acumen with the ability to understand complex business landscapes and quantify the impact of data-driven initiatives.
  • Strategic mindset with proficiency in developing data-driven roadmaps aligning with organizational goals.
