About the Role
This position serves as the central Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) point of contact across various departments including Product, Technology, Finance, Legal, Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), Fraud, Operations, and external partners. The individual will play a critical role in developing and maintaining comprehensive risk, compliance, and governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and control standards across FinTech initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end credit-risk governance for lending products, encompassing credit policy, underwriting and decision rules, affordability, exposure and stacking controls, exceptions, collections-risk oversight, and portfolio performance management.
- Monitor portfolio quality, including approval rates, delinquency, roll rates, non-performing loans (NPLs), losses, recoveries, vintage performance, and early-warning indicators; recommend and drive corrective actions as necessary.
- Establish risk appetite, credit limits, escalation triggers, exception governance, and management reporting specific to lending products.
- Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to integrate credit-risk, fraud, compliance, consent, and regulatory controls into customer and merchant journeys.
- Conduct compliance-risk assessments for new products, partnerships, customer journeys, marketing communications, and operational processes.
- Define and establish fraud-control measures, transaction-monitoring protocols, incident-management procedures, and escalation requirements in conjunction with relevant shared-service teams.
- Coordinate regulatory readiness, including licensing submissions, policy packs, regulatory reporting, audit trails, inspections, and supervisory responses.
- Define governance forums, approval authorities, risk reporting structures, and committee packs for senior management meetings.
- Maintain risk registers, control gaps, policy exceptions, incidents, audit findings, and remediation plans; actively drive closure initiatives with accountable owners.
- Build practical procedures and conduct awareness sessions for Product, Operations, Customer Care, and other relevant business teams.
- Undertake any additional projects, tasks, or activities as assigned or delegated by the Line Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Law, Economics, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, Master's in Risk or Finance) is advantageous but not essential.
- Certification such as CAMS, FRM, CRCM, or equivalent in risk/compliance is preferred but not mandatory.
- 8–12 years of experience in credit risk, lending risk, risk governance, or regulatory roles within FinTech, banking, consumer finance, payments, or other regulated financial services.
- Strong hands-on experience in digital credit or lending risk, including areas like underwriting, affordability, exposure management, portfolio monitoring, delinquency management, collections oversight, and loss-performance analysis.
- Robust experience in regulatory compliance, risk frameworks, policy development, control design, risk registers, and management reporting.
- Working knowledge of AML/CFT, sanctions, electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC), fraud-risk management, transaction monitoring, and consumer protection requirements.
- Experience in supporting licensing applications, regulatory submissions, inspections, audits, or supervisory engagements.
