This position seeks a Resident Engineer – Roads to oversee the day-to-day supervision and delivery of road and related infrastructure works on an upcoming project. Responsibilities
- Monitor daily construction activities on road works to ensure alignment with approved drawings and specifications.
- Verify contractor compliance with standards, contractual requirements, and quality procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections, progress measurements, and prepare detailed daily reports.
- Coordinate with design engineers, client representatives, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues promptly.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements before implementation.
- Manage and document change orders, variations, and any deviations from the scope of work.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations are strictly followed on site.
- Facilitate regular progress meetings and communicate status updates to project management.
- Track project schedule, identify potential delays, and propose mitigation measures.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, test results, and quality control documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
- Education obtained from North America, Europe, Australia or equivalent university.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in road construction supervision, preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects in Qatar.
- In-depth knowledge of specifications, Qatar construction codes, and international road design standards.
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English (Arabic is a plus).
- Demonstrated experience with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes and documentation.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work on-site in challenging environments and travel as required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to make decisions under pressure.
- Valid Qatar work permit or eligibility to obtain one.
- MMUP Registration is mandatory.
