Your Role and Responsibilities
- Act as a technical lead, approving design deliverables.
- Review project documents for conformity, safety, and quality assurance.
- Anticipate and resolve crucial issues and unique conditions.
- Serve as a design authority for a specific engineering discipline, completing engineering assignments for that discipline.
- Collaborate on project installation, commissioning, and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors.
- Provide technical support to commissioning and start-up activities.
- Work with customers to shape and deliver solutions, seeking feedback to drive improvements.
- Finalize key concepts as part of Kick-off and design freeze meetings.
- Participate in project meetings, resolving outstanding technical issues to meet contractual obligations.
- Assist in preparing proposals and presentations for engineering projects.
- Apply Design Thinking and Design for Excellence concepts, including modeling, prototyping, simulation, and calculations.
- Perform Project Peer-Reviews and utilize checklists to verify designs according to applicable standards and guidelines.
- Actively contribute to workshops on engineering design, tools, and processes, and coach colleagues on translating conceptual designs into engineering documentation.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with safety regulations and contractual requirements, reporting inefficiencies and suggesting improvements.
- Assess technical risks and opportunities and report contract, safety, quality, program, or cost issues to Project Manager(s) with recommendations for resolution.
- Ensure the Bill of Material (BOM) meets project contractual obligations and gross margin requirements.
- Create work plans and cost estimates in consultation with Project Managers, ensuring quality deliverables on time and within budget.
- Prepare RFQs to meet contractual requirements and technically evaluate suppliers’ proposals.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain function and Project Managers.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing and Testing teams to ensure that technical solutions are properly manufactured and tested.
- Contribute to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work according to customer orders and expectations.
Qualifications for the Role
- Engineering Degree.
- Understanding of networking and cyber security systems, combined with automation systems knowledge.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in industrial networking and cyber security solutions for control systems, preferably with onshore and offshore oil and gas customers.
- Strong customer interpersonal and communication skills.
- Expertise in designing and implementing Operational Technology (OT) network solutions for control systems.
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and frameworks, focusing on OT environments.
- Familiarity with OT-specific cybersecurity standards such as ISA/IEC 62443.
- Experience with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network segmentation in industrial settings.
- Hands-on experience with industrial switches and routers, as well as CISCO Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches.
- Proficiency in Level-2 Network Technologies (VLAN/VTP/STP/RSTP/MSTP/VRRP/MRP/PRP).
- Experience with MPLS, L3 VPN, L2 VPN, and routing protocols.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and common OT protocols such as Modbus, IEC104, OPC, IEC61850.
- In-depth knowledge of IP addressing, subnet classes, and subnetting techniques.
- Relevant certifications: CCNA (R&S/Security) and CCNP (R&S/Security).
- Knowledge of control systems and experience with various cybersecurity solutions.
