Position

As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Engineering Manager
You will manage a team that provides full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from project design inception through site improvement. You will be the primary engineering resource for your region to design projects that address issues within our data center fleet. Your role will involve leveraging your expertise and engaging with diverse teams to:

  • Hire employees who embody Amazon Leadership Principles.
  • Manage team and individual performance, including promotions.
  • Make informed decisions on competing business needs.
  • Identify areas for team growth, establish clear development strategies, and identify resource requirements.
  • Drive strategic communication and develop technical strategies with limited guidance within your assigned region.
  • Manage a team of up to 10 members with varying technical experience.
  • Navigate challenging situations, handle escalations, and make trade-offs between short-term team needs and long-term business goals.
  • Scope projects effectively, discerning essential features and maintaining clear communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and streamline metrics, engineering processes, and operational best practices.
  • Share best practices with peers to drive efficiencies in repeatable work.
  • Influence the strategic direction of the team and roadmaps of overlapping teams.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to implement and enhance processes and procedures regionally and globally.
  • Focus on improving operational excellence through customer interaction and collaboration with other teams.

A Day in the Life:
You will engage with multiple teams across all aspects of data center operations. Prioritizing your activities will be essential in supporting data center capacity availability and safety, concentrating on the most impactful actions. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to identify high performance and lead a team of skilled engineers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers.
  • Proven ability to develop solutions and execute plans for complex projects.
