About the Job:
Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. We are hiring a Cloud Support Associate Engineer to support our customers utilizing Ubuntu and open-source products.

This role offers an opportunity for a hands-on engineer who is eager to learn and has a passion for Linux and cloud technologies. You will manage and resolve complex issues within the cloud technical stack at Canonical, ensuring outstanding technical support experiences for our customers. Job responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of new cases via telephone, email, and web.
  • Acting as an internal customer advocate and providing timely updates.
  • Handling support cases in accordance with our Service Level Agreement (SLA).
  • Contributing to knowledge base articles and drafting technical notices.
  • Maintaining regular communication with the team, both locally and remotely.

Work Conditions:
This is a remote role available to candidates located in AMER, EMEA, or APAC time zones.

Language Requirements:
Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting and server administration.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and familiarity with at least two of the following: virtualization/cloud, containers, storage technologies, and networking.
  • Proficiency in programming fundamentals (e.g., bash, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, C/C++, Go).
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage a customer-facing role under pressure.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience supporting virtualized environments (KVM, Virtual Box, VMWare).
  • Familiarity with open-source technologies and contributions to open-source projects or forums.
