Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, and we are seeking a Cloud Support Engineer to join our team. This role involves delivering an exceptional technical support experience across the full cloud technical stack at Canonical. You will leverage your Linux support and software engineering skills, as well as your knowledge of the entire technology stack—from hardware to application and networking— to help customers maximize their use of Canonical's solutions. Our team specializes in providing technical support and engineering solutions related to open source technologies, including Ubuntu Server and Desktop, OpenStack, and Kubernetes. This position is perfect for an open-source technologist who enjoys solving complex problems under pressure.

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Hybrid)
Work Conditions: Full-time, hybrid setup

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply your knowledge of Linux virtualization using Libvirt/KVM and containers/Kubernetes to support customized solutions for our customers.
  • Serve as a technical authority with experience in popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, Corosync/Pacemaker, MongoDB, MySQL, and Apache.
  • Provide advice on deployed architecture and implement solutions for complex problems to guide customers in successful data-center operations.
  • Communicate regularly with the customer team regarding ongoing issues.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Open source development or scripting experience.
  • Professional experience with OpenStack is a strong plus.
  • Professional experience with Kubernetes and/or Ceph.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and significant experience in customer-facing positions.
  • High motivation with the ability to multitask and reliably follow up on commitments.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn new technologies, such as LXD, Snaps, MAAS, Juju, and Ubuntu.
  • Ability to travel.
