This role involves leading the charge to set security standards for open source software across the Ubuntu platform—from desktops and servers to cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and OpenStack. You will certify core components to meet industry standards and guide development teams in security best practices. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with industry partners on projects focused on cryptographic modules and system hardening.
Work Conditions:
- Remote, full-time position
- Ability to travel twice a year for company events (up to two weeks each)

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and career development feedback
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and represent your team to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Develop and promote great engineering and organizational practices
- Ensure team delivers high-quality results in a timely manner, supporting product security requirements (e.g., FIPS, CIS, STIG, FedRAMP)
Qualifications:
- Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM
- Prior experience with FIPS/Common Criteria certified products, and knowledge of related standards
- Familiarity with DISA-STIG or CIS benchmarks, including audit and remediation tooling
- Strong background in software and application security
- Experience working in an agile development environment
