Position

Canonical is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, widely known for its platform, Ubuntu. The Ubuntu Community team at Canonical facilitates community initiatives by coordinating with community leaders and ensuring efficient processes. As a Community Engineer, you will support community initiatives, engage with volunteer developers, and create successful tools within the Ubuntu community.

In this role, you will:

  • Utilize technical and organizational skills to integrate community plans with Canonical plans.
  • Encourage the creation of new technical projects to enhance community contributions.
  • Communicate effectively with developers and represent community interests within Canonical.
  • Provide content and support to keep the community engaged through blogs and social media.

This position is ideal for someone with a passion for open source software, Linux, and community building, likely fitting profiles with experience in DevOps, software development, or related fields.

Work Conditions: Full-time, remote work with potential travel (2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events).

Requirements:

  • Strong technical skills, particularly in Linux.
  • Experience in developer tools and open source projects.
  • Engagement with the Ubuntu community through various channels (AskUbuntu, IRC, etc.).
  • Ability to work autonomously and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
