Position

Join Canonical as an Engineering Manager for the Build and Release Infrastructure team, where you'll drive the future of collaborative open-source development tooling as part of the Launchpad team. This role is perfect for a motivated individual passionate about open-source software, Linux, and web services.

Launchpad is a vital platform for managing open-source development projects, offering tools for code hosting and review, bug tracking, package building, translations, and more, which are essential for free and open-source software developers. It supports major projects like Ubuntu.

As an engineering manager, your primary responsibility will be the growth and success of your team. You will ensure that team members are developing their skills, producing valuable work, and enjoying their time at Canonical. Your role will involve influencing the team's culture, facilitating technical delivery, and collaborating on strategy and execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Grow and lead a team of engineers in your region.
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
  • Apply sound engineering principles and contribute to team goals.
  • Maintain productive relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations.
  • Collaborate with a distributed team and community.
  • Lead the ongoing development of Launchpad.
  • Advocate for and advance modern, agile software development practices.

Who You Are:

  • Experienced in leading a distributed team to deliver features and manage production services at scale.
  • Passionate about mentoring, with a strong track record in developing talent.
  • Knowledgeable about technology, with experience in delivering high-quality software and designing complex distributed systems.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have solid experience working in an agile development environment.

Work Conditions:
Full-time, Remote role based in the EMEA region with international travel up to 6 weeks per year.
