We are hiring a Golang Software Engineer at any seniority level who strives for high engineering quality and seeks continuous improvement in skills and work practices. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with popular software systems, integration technologies, and innovative open-source solutions.
The Commercial Systems unit consists of five engineering teams that collaborate closely with other engineering and business teams at Canonical. The services developed within this unit are central to Canonical's business, with Golang playing an essential role.
Key Teams:
- Billing Team: Designs and operates a Golang service for billing capabilities, providing customers clarity on their current expenditure.
- Contracts Team: Develops a service that acts as the centralized repository for contracts, integrating with business systems like CRM and accounting.
- Livepatch Team: Focuses on delivering Linux kernel patches to address vulnerabilities, ensuring high system reliability and security.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering solutions leveraging Golang.
- Collaborate on technical designs and code reviews.
- Deploy and operate the services developed by the team.
- Depending on seniority, coach and mentor team members.
- Promote excellent engineering and organizational practices.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
- Undergraduate degree in a technical field or a strong alternative narrative.
- Proven experience in software development utilizing Golang.
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Result-oriented and motivated to meet commitments.
- Capability to travel internationally for team events.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in performance engineering and security.
- Familiarity with accounting, sales, or sales operations roles.
