We are seeking an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to oversee a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers engaged in Presales and Professional Services. The role involves assisting customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery. Our mission in the Internet of Things sector is to empower companies to operate fleets of secure connected devices. Canonical supplies the base Ubuntu OS and kernel, alongside secure update and management protocols. Our clients develop critical control systems, gateways, and appliances that must meet strict quality and security standards, with the aim of extending such levels of security into the broader consumer electronics market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers across various experience levels in Presales and Professional Services.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to solve customer problems and advocate our technologies.
  • Collaborate with your team remotely within a major time zone.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
  • Identify and measure team health indicators, while implementing disciplined engineering processes.
  • Represent your team to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Promote exemplary engineering practices and manage project goals and progress.
  • Participate actively in the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic background with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience with embedded Linux (Yocto or similar) and general Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
  • Proficient in at least one programming language such as Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience managing small teams and engaging with customers.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Driven to achieve results and communicate the business benefits of technology.
  • A humble learner and quick to adapt.

Desirable Traits:

  • Experience with RTOS.
  • Proficiency in additional languages (programming and human).
  • Prior work experience in a remote-first and diverse distributed company.
