We are seeking an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services. The primary responsibility will be to assist customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery. The Internet of Things mission at Canonical focuses on empowering companies to create fleets of highly secure connected devices. We provide the base Ubuntu OS and kernel with secure update and management mechanisms. Our customers develop mission-critical control systems, gateways, and appliances, requiring stringent quality and security standards. Field Engineers at Canonical are thought leaders who tackle complex problems, are accomplished technologists, and are passionate about helping customers meet ambitious technical and business objectives. Successful candidates will blend technical expertise with a commitment to team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services.
  • Address customer challenges by promoting our technologies and acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Work remotely, managing a team across multiple time zones.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide feedback for career development.
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes and measure team health indicators.
  • Represent the team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Collaborate actively with the leadership team on strategies and projects.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience with embedded Linux (Yocto or similar).
  • Proficient in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
  • Fluency in at least one programming language (Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust).
  • Experience managing a small team and engaging with customers.
  • Professional written and spoken English.

Desirable Traits:

  • Experience with RTOS and additional programming and human languages.
  • Previous work in a remote-first, diverse, distributed company.
