Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems for the global enterprise and technology markets, with its platform, Ubuntu, widely utilized in initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are seeking an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers engaged in Presales and Professional Services activities. This role requires guiding customers through solution architecture, design, and delivery.
Our Internet of Things mission focuses on enabling companies to create secure connected devices. Canonical provides the foundational Ubuntu OS and kernel, alongside secure update and management mechanisms. Our customers develop mission-critical control systems and devices that must adhere to stringent quality and security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services.
- Solve customer problems, acting as a trusted advisor while promoting our technologies.
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
- Identify and measure team health indicators and implement disciplined engineering processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, and customers, representing the team and the product.
- Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Extensive embedded Linux experience (Yocto or similar) and Linux experience (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
- Experience in managing a small team and engaging with customers.
- Professional written and spoken English; excellent interpersonal skills.
- Result-oriented with strong personal responsibility towards commitments.
Desirable Traits:
- Experience with RTOS, additional programming languages, and prior remote work experience in a diverse company culture.
