
Lead Data Governance Engineer

Canonical operates with a focus on global distributed collaboration, employing over 1200 colleagues across more than 80 countries, with minimal office-based roles. Teams meet in person two to four times yearly in varied global locations for strategic alignment.
We are seeking a Lead Data Governance Engineer to specialize in data governance policies, processes, standards, and monitoring in compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, DPA, ISO). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing Python-based tools to automate operations of an internal data mesh solution, including data labeling and quality metrics, while executing data, access management, and data security best practices.

Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote position with the requirement to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.
