About the Job:
Lead our effort to get Ubuntu fit for mission-critical environments like automotive, aerospace, industrial robotics, and other highly regulated uses. Ubuntu is the most widely used Linux in the enterprise, for developers, and at home. We work to enable innovation across these sectors, acting as a gateway to the vast world of open source.

Canonical has created a role for a Development Lifecycle Engineer who has a passion for engineering excellence and open source, as well as experience in implementing an agile lifecycle release train across various products. The goal is to showcase how open source can lead innovation while meeting the demands of regulated engineering environments.

This role will bridge Canonical's open source engineering processes with the requirements of regulated technology platforms, focusing on compliance and certification. You will enhance delivery quality, security, and developer experience, while leading and influencing the culture and work environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing the vision for Engineering Excellence.
  • Representing Ubuntu and Canonical in front of customers and partners.
  • Advocating for modern, agile software development practices.
  • Coordinating and positively influencing Canonical's engineering practices.
  • Developing skills through coaching and providing technical leadership.
  • Establishing strategic relations with external groups and partners.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and grow teams.
  • Experience leading successful compliance and certification efforts.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO IEC 9001, 25010, and 15504 / SPICE.
  • Background in successful open-source projects known for their engineering processes.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience as a software developer.
  • Knowledge in establishing product engineering metrics and KPIs.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Location:
Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Remote)

Work Conditions:
Full-time, Fully remote working environment with international travel twice a year for company events.
