We are hiring a Lead Golang Software Engineer who is dedicated to engineering quality, seeks continuous improvement, and is eager to develop their skills. The role presents an opportunity to work across popular software systems, integration technologies, and innovative open-source solutions.
The Commercial Systems unit consists of multiple engineering teams that collaborate closely. Notable projects include:
- Billing Team: Develops a Golang service for standardized metrics to billable amounts, enabling customers to track spending and ensuring reliable billing.
- Contracts Team: Creates a centralized service for managing customer contracts and integrating with CRMs and accounting systems.
- Livepatch Team: Works on Linux kernel patch delivery solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Ubuntu Pro Backend Team: Focuses on delivering backend services for Ubuntu Pro, emphasizing security and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop engineering solutions leveraging Golang.
- Lead technical designs, code reviews, and implementation.
- Deploy and operate team-developed services.
- Coach and mentor team members.
- Advocate for effective engineering and organizational practices.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional academic record and degree in a technical subject or related experience.
- Proven software development experience in Golang.
- Proficient in professional written and spoken English.
- Results-oriented with a commitment to achieving objectives.
- Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks).
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in performance engineering and security.
- Background in accounting, sales, or sales operations.
