Position

This is an entry-level position for a technologist with a passion for Linux and Customer Success, providing an opportunity to build a career with Canonical and support the technical needs of both customers and Canonical staff. As a Linux Desktop Support Associate, you will be responsible for delivering an outstanding technical support experience to our employees and customers. Your responsibilities will range from problem qualification to full resolution, owning and managing your cases while collaborating with colleagues and senior engineers as needed.

Daily tasks will include providing technical onboarding support for new employees, managing support requests via telephone, email, and web, and ensuring customer satisfaction in accordance with our Service Level Agreements (SLA). You will be expected to contribute to a common knowledge base and maintain regular communication with team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote technical support for employees.
  • Act as an internal customer advocate and keep them updated.
  • Prioritize work to address urgent tasks first.
  • Participate in training sessions and company events.
  • Continuously learn about new products and technologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience in a Linux-based environment (installation, troubleshooting, basic configuration of Ubuntu Desktop).
  • Basic knowledge of Linux commands, troubleshooting, and desktop usage.
  • Familiarity with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of programming (e.g., bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C/C++, Go) is a plus.
  • Customer support experience is advantageous.
