If you have experience in IT operations automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and a passion for technology, you will enjoy working with some of the best people in the industry at Canonical.

The IS team at Canonical supports and maintains all of Canonical's IT production services, running services used by over 60 million Ubuntu users. As a Senior SRE & Gitops engineer, you'll drive operations automation both in private and public clouds, utilizing the best open source IaC software and software development practices such as CI/CD pipelines.

You will define IaC, improve Canonical products and the open-source technologies they're based on, and collaborate on design and implementations with other teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop automation and GitOps in your team as an embedded tech lead.
  • Collaborate with the IS architect to align solutions with IS architecture vision.
  • Design services that the IS team can offer to the organization as products.
  • Improve IaC practices within IS by increasing automation.
  • Automate software operations for re-usability and consistency across private and public clouds.
  • Maintain operational responsibility for all of Canonical's core services, networks, and infrastructure.
  • Develop skills in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance investigation.
  • Set up and maintain observability tools and design monitoring for various systems.
  • Assist and collaborate with globally distributed engineering, operations, and support teams.

Requirements:

  • Modern view on hosting architecture driven by IaC across private and public clouds.
  • Experience in Python software development and working with large projects.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
  • Proven experience managing and deploying cloud infrastructure with code.
  • Practical knowledge in Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
  • Hands-on experience in administering enterprise Linux servers.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English through various channels.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base pay depending on geographical location and experience.
  • Fully remote working environment since 2004.
  • Personal development budget of $2,000 per annum.
  • Annual compensation review and recognition rewards.
  • Annual holiday leave and parental leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program and opportunities for travel to meet colleagues.
