We are hiring a Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to join our Information Systems team. This role is ideal for an "automation-first" technologist with a passion for Linux who wants to build a career with Canonical. You'll work on IT operations automation, Infrastructure as Code, and interact with some of the best professionals in the industry.
The Information Systems team at Canonical supports and maintains all of Canonical's IT production services, serving over 60 million Ubuntu users. As an SRE & Gitops engineer, you'll focus on driving operations automation in private and public clouds through open-source infrastructure as code software and CI/CD pipelines. You will also provide critical feedback to developers about product performance at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance infrastructure as code practices.
- Automate software operations for consistency across environments.
- Improve the resilience and scalability of cloud and container services.
- Maintain operational responsibility for core services and infrastructure.
- Set up and maintain observability tools, e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch.
- Collaborate with development teams on service architecture and operational procedures.
- Mentor team members and share best practices.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience defining operations in code and knowledge of CI/CD.
- Strong background in modern engineering practices.
- Proficient in Python software development and Linux administration.
- Familiarity with Linux networking, storage solutions, and cloud computing technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field.
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
