About the Job: Lead our effort to get Ubuntu fit for mission-critical environments like automotive, aerospace, industrial robotics, and other highly regulated uses. Ubuntu is the most widely used Linux in the enterprise, for developers, and at home. We work to enable innovation in these sectors as a gateway to the vast world of open source. People appreciate the ease of use and affordability we provide in enterprise Linux. We aim to invest in additional processes, engineering, tools, and analysis to facilitate building mission-critical systems that meet regulatory requirements with Ubuntu.

Canonical seeks a Development Lifecycle Engineer passionate about engineering excellence and open source, with experience implementing an agile lifecycle release train across multiple products. This role aims to bridge Canonical's open source engineering processes with the requirements of regulated technology platforms regarding compliance and certification.

You will enhance delivery quality, security, and developer experience, working with all engineering stakeholders to exemplify Canonical's 'ways of working.' You will work closely with engineering leadership to define and implement continuous improvement processes and establish qualification requirements supporting engineering quality standards. Your strategic relations with external working groups, committees, and partners will be crucial. You will report to the Vice President of Engineering Excellence and collaborate closely with company-wide engineering leadership to execute this vision.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment
  • Proven ability to develop and grow people and teams
  • Experience leading compliance and certification efforts, with an understanding of stakeholder management
  • Knowledge or certification in industry standards such as ISO IEC 9001, 25010, and 15504/SPICE
  • Experience with successful open source projects known for their engineering processes

Additional Skills That Might Be Beneficial:

  • Background as a software developer
  • Experience in establishing product engineering development metrics and KPIs
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base pay tailored to geographical location, experience, knowledge, and skills
  • Additional benefits, including annual bonuses, compensation review, recognition rewards, personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per annum, annual holiday leave, parental leave, and employee assistance program
  • Opportunity to travel to new locations to meet colleagues at 'sprints'
  • Fully remote working environment

Canonical is an equal opportunity employer, fostering a workplace free from discrimination and valuing diversity of experience and perspectives.
